Momentum Magazine—E-bikes: The Future of City Travel, by Turbo Bob

I was quite thrilled to contacted by Momentum Magazine last year to write this feature article for their magazine.   Seeing it in print just made it that much better.   Now it is available online for those who aren’t subscribers.   We have been loving the magazine for over two years now, ever since meeting Mia and Tania, the co-publishers.

I did a write-up here on Momentum back then.   One of our local bike advocates, Samantha Ollinger, had just had an article published on San Diego bike culture.   Mia and Tania came to town to help celebrate the event and joined in on a fun group ride as part of their visit.   Barbara and I were part of that ride and meeting the two of them was one of the highlights.

Since then we have been subscribers and thoroughly enjoy each issue.   Unlike other bike magazines that focus on racing, training and the latest high-end speed bikes, they are more geared toward the fun aspects of biking that Barbara and I are more interested in.   Things like up-right bikes, causal riding and commuting are many of their topics.   Although I am no bike fashion freak, the coverage of such things can be fun to read about too (and we’re not talking lycra either).

My article in Momentum is all about introducing people to electric-assist bikes.   This is a passion I’ve had for close to five years.   Many of my talks, including my bi-yearly local E-bike seminars, are all about educating people about E-bikes.   Although some might not like E-bikes, I think that everyone can agree that anything that gets people on bikes is a good thing.

Much of what I post here is about electric bikes, how they work, how to choose one and review articles on the many brands and types.   It is not my only bike passion, but a big one.   I write E-bike articles for other online sites too.   Electric-assist bike are getting better and more popular with every coming day.   Like the title of my article says—E-bikes; The Future of City Travel.

I do hope you will read my article.   Below you will find a couple of links.   The first is to the Momentum site that has the article as printed.   The second is from BionX who scanned and posted it.   This one includes all the interesting sidebars and the 11 E-bike test reviews that they included with the article.   The third is to my post ’My blogs on other sites’ that is full of links to many, many other E-bike posts I have written.   And then one to my original article on Momentum Magazine.

So, thanks for being part of my bike blog.   I hope you find much here that helps and entertains you.

Keep E-biking, Turbo Bob.

Great, great article, thanks for writing and sharing. I didn’t know too much about E-bikes before, glad you’re getting some good use out of them! I’ll have to give it a try when I get the chance.
