Introduction to Electric Bikes—A Free Public Service Seminar on July 12, 2012 in San Diego

Introduction to Electric Bikes—A Free Public Service Seminar on July 12, 2012 in San Diego.

I have organized and will be hosting this fun night to help people understand why they need E-bikes.   I will cover how to choose the right E-bike, the differences in them, battery care and some basic maintenance tips.   Also expect safety and riding information.   There will several local E-bike shops and companies on hand to display their E-bikes and offer test rides when the seminar is complete.

Many bike shops will there to support the event and bring bike accessories and gift certificates for the free raffle.   There will a big (surprise) item given to one of the lucky attendees.   The raffle will be a bonus, just like the large line-up of E-bikes, as the main excitement will be a new-found understanding of electric bikes.

This seminar will be held at the fantastic new Innovation Center introduced to our community this year.   SDG&E renovated this building and filled it with many ways to learn about how energy can be best utilized.   They hold many seminars, but I believe this will be the best one.

The evening starts at 6:30 pm, with a suggested check-in at 6 pm.   Pre-registration is recommended, but not required.   The room can hold 200 people, and if the event is full, we may need to turn-away those who aren’t registered.   At the end of my talk, we will roll the E-bikes outside and start the test rides.

Bringing your own helmet is a good idea, but there will be loaners on hand.   Kids are welcome, but they won’t be able to ride the E-bikes.   You will be required to sign a waiver to ride, so be prepared for that.   The list of E-bikes to ride reads like a whos-who in the E-bike world.   15-20 E-bikes will be part of the program.   It should prove very interesting.

I think this might be the first seminar of its type.   As I am sure it will be well attended and successful, it could become a bi-yearly event.   I hope E-bike advocates will try to replicate it nationwide, as well as worldwide.   I am quite excited about the way this is all coming together.

See the attached flyer for all the details and registration information.   Or follow the link at the bottom of this post that will take you to the registration page.

Please consider  being part of this ground-breaking night, Turbo Bob.

  1. teri polley says:

I hope you repeat it next month.

    • Teri, I do believe that if the turn-out is large enough, that the room will be available to me for these seminars twice a year. I hope you can come.
I urge everyone to help get the word out about this informative and fun seminar.
We need more people on bikes and E-bikes.

  2. Could you please share the details of seminar. I missed it.

    • I will do just that. Look for a post all about the evening’s activities. Plus, the seminar was good enough for the Innovation Center to approve some more in the (near?) future. I hope you can make it to the next one. Everyone seemed to love the info and the large selection of E-bikes to test ride. Turbo.
